Awesome news everyone! Our preprint Disorder-independent hole spin manipulation by hopping just got on the arxiv!!

Spin manipulation by hopping has recently emerged as a very attractive way of controlling hole spins with baseband-only pulses, avoiding the power dissipation and microwave engineering constraints of standard EDSR. There is a catch, though: hopping relies on dot-to-dot variations of the spin precession axes, which are typically granted by… disorder. In this work we quantify how the viability of hopping-based control degrades as devices become cleaner and more reproducible, precisely the direction the community is pushing towards. To solve this apparent paradox, we propose hopping between intentionally squeezed quantum dots, which retains all the advantages of baseband control while being disorder-independent by design. Cleaner devices and full spin control, no compromises needed!
